Dr. FANG Jidong, a candidate for “one-thousand-talents scheme” was invited to deliver lecture on sleep research on March 4th. He is now a tenure-track associate professor at Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. Many people attended his lectures, including the leaders of IP, PIs from the Key Laboratory of Mental Health of the CAS, some officials from the CAS headquarter, Mr. TANG Yuhua and Mr. LIU Jie.
Dr. Fang introduced first the significance, progress and future direction of sleep research, and then described what he is going to do in IP if accepted by CAS. At the last, he answered many questions raised by the audiences, and had further discussion with them of possible collaboration on sleep research.
Dr. Fang has already published about 70 papers on top SCI journals, and is regarded as the most productive author on sleep with lab research methods in China. He made contribution to many research fields, such as sleeping regulation, the interaction between sleeping and immune system, the effects of virus infection on sleeping, the effects of obesity on sleeping and the effects of sleeping on brain function. His papers have been widely cited by more than 1400 times in total. The H-index is 24.
