Recently, Dr. Cai Huajian passed the recruitment defense on November 16th, 2009 and signed the ‘Hundred Talents Program’ contract with the Institute of Psychology. He became the 5th talent young researcher being accepted by the institute in 2009.
Since 2003, Dr. Cai has conducted research in social psychology in several universities in the States, such as University of Washington, University of California at Davis and University of Oklahoma. He is now a postdoctoral researcher at University of Oklahoma.
His major research interests is on effect of culture upon individual mind and behavior, and especially focus on the cross-cultural characters of self-esteem and its relation to one’s mental health, by using the IAT technique. For example, he found that self-esteem has greater self-promotion effects with Chinese than western people. Besides, he has demonstrated the advantage of the implicit association test’s D measure, and improved the measuring methods of one’s implicit self-esteem. He has already published 10 papers on SCI and SSCI journals.
