A “Hundred Talents Program” candidate, Dr. Tao Zhang, was invited to make an oral recruitment defense on December 16th，2009. Nine accreditation experts as recruitment committee members attended this event.
Dr. Zhang obtained his Ph.D. in July 2000 from Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He then went to the State to work in the Neuroscience Research Center and the Department of Neurobiology in University of California atDavis as a postdoc researcher for ? years. And now he is working in the same department as a project scientist.
Dr. Zhang’s work has mainly focused on visual-motor neural mechanism, by using rhesus monkeys as a primate animal model, and adopted electrophysiological and psychophysical methods to examine the effects of VIP areas in the visual cognitive activities caused by self-motion. He has already published 5 papers on SCI journals, one of which is “Neuron” (IF=14.17).
After introducing himself and his research achievements, Dr. Zhang talked about his research plan for the future, and then answered the questions raised from nine committee members. At the end, all experts agreed to accept Dr. Zhang Tao as a “Hundred Talents Program” researcher in Institute of Psychology, CAS.
