Dr. Yi WANG of the CAS Key Laboratory of Mental Health, Institute of Psychology Received “Young Investigator Award” From the 16th International Congress on Schizophrenia Research

Dr. Yi WANG, assistant researcher of Neuropsychology and Applied Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory, CAS Key Laboratory of Mental Health, the Institute of Psychology has recently received the Young Investigator Award of the 16th International Congress on Schizophrenia Research (ICOSR). Dr. Wang attended the conference on March 24th – 28th in San Diego, United States and reported her work on altered functional connectivity of striatum in patients with first-episode schizophrenia. There are a total of 42 Young Investigator Awards granted out from 300 applicants. Including Dr. Yi WANG, this is the sixth time of the NACN Lab to receive similar kind of awards for their schizophrenia research findings. Dr. Raymond Chan received the Young Investigator Award and the Senior Scientist Award from the Biennial Workshop of Schizophrenia in 2004 and 2008, respectively, and the Young Investigator Award from the ICOSR in 2007; Dr. Ya Wang received the Young Investigator Award from the ICOSR in 2009, and Dr. Yi WANG has also received the Young Investigator Award from Schizophrenia Internatinal Research Society (SIRS) in 2014. The SIRS and ICOSR are the two most important biennial meetings in the field of schizophrenia research. For the past few years, over a thousand of researchers and scientists came from different countries attended each conferences and exchange their data, techniques and ideas, which helped to facilitate the scientific research and clinical treatments.

Dr. Raymond CHAN of the NACN Laboratory also led his team members to make a series of presentations at the ICOSR, including Ms. Zhuo-ya Yang (1st year doctoral student) on prospection in patients with schizophrenia, Ms. Ying-min Zou (2nd year doctoral student) on amotivation in schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder, and Raymond Chan on striatal dysfunction in response to monetary and affective incentives in patients with schizophrenia.
