Dr. Raymond Chan from the Neuropsychology and Applied Cognitive Neuroscience (NACN) Laboratory, CAS Key Laboratory of Mental Health, Institute of Psychology was invited to organize a symposium for the 7th Asian Congress of Schizophrenia Research, titled “Prospection Science in Schizophrenia Research: From Assessment to Intervention”. Prospection is the ability to allow us to “pre-experience” the future and is an important function in our daily life. Research has begun to apply this novel construct to understand the cognitive and emotional deficits in patients with schizophrenia. This symposium has invited three speakers, including Dr. Raymond Chan himself, Dr. WANG Ya from the Institute of Psychology and Dr. Simon Lui from the Department of Psychiatry, the University of Hong Kong. They have presented the most updated research from the study of prospection in schizophrenia patients using an affective cognitive neuroscience approach (Dr. Raymond Chan), the benefits of emotionally salient cues on prospective memory in patients with schizophrenia (Dr. Simon Lui), and implementation intention interventions for prospective memory deficits in schizophrenia patients (Dr. WANG Ya). The conference was held online this year during 10th – 11th September, 2021.
