Dr. Raymond Chan from the Neuropsychology and Applied Cognitive Neuroscience (NACN) Laboratory, CAS Key Laboratory of Mental Health, Institute of Psychology, has jointly organized the 5th Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience Joint Labs Symposium with Prof. Ci-ping Deng from the School of Psychology and Cognitive Science, East China Normal University on June 25th 2024. This was the offline symposium taking place in School of Psychology and Cognitive Science at the East China Normal University. The main theme this year was on “Cognitive and Emotional Developmental Psychopathology”.

More than 50 faculty members and postgraduate students attended this 1-day hybrid mode of symposium. A total of 10 presentations were reported by colleagues, alumni, and students from the Institute of Psychology and East China Normal University (ECNU).

Dr. YANG Tian-xiao, Dr. LI Ying, Ms. YUAN Chen-wei, Ms. REN Qian, Mr. LEI Beilin from NACN Laboratory presented their project findings on clinical, subclinical and healthy samples. Ms. WU Ke-jia, the joint doctoral student of Dr. YAN Chao from ECNU and Dr. Chan from NACN Laboratory, also made a presentation on preliminary findings of effort-based social decision-making in adolescents with major depression.

At end of the symposium, Dr. DENG Ci-ping from ECNU and Dr. Chan from NACN Laboratory led the discussion. Prof. CAI Dan from Shanghai Normal University also joined the discussion session. All the presenters and participants have discussed the unaddressed issues concerning subclinical and clinical studies for children and adolescent, and agreed that we need to work together with a multidisciplinary approach for us to better understand these under studied populations.
