Dr. Walter Edwards received his BA, MA, and PhD degrees from Cornell University in his native country, the United States. His professional career has focused on the study of Japanese culture, both ancient and modern, and he has taught courses in Japanese Studies at the University of Michigan, the University of Washington, and most recently at Tenri University in Japan, the country where he has lived nearly all of his adult life. He is the author of a monograph (Modern Japan through its Weddings: Gender, Person, and Society in Ritual Portrayal,Stanford University Press) and dozens of articles and other scholarly contributions on Japan in academic journals, including the Journal of Japanese Studies, Monumenta Nipponica, and the Journal of Asian Studies. He brings to his position at PsyCh Journal extensive experience in editing and publishing English language materials on Japanese archaeology, cultural heritage, and heritage preservation for organizations such as the Asia-Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO and the Japanese Archaeological Association.
